Sapelo Island Light
The Sapelo Island Lighthouse was first constructed in 1820 in Darien, Georgia. It was active for the remainder of the century. For most of the 20th Century, the lighthouse was dormant as a taller skeletal tower was equipped with lights and functioned from 1905 - 1998.
Restoration efforts returned the light to its late 1800's era appearance and it was restored in 1998.
